Road TRIP! Yesterday, my friend Shannon came and picked me up for our annual trip up to the Yankee Candle Outlet in Deerfield, MA and boy what fun we had. Well, it is always fun when you bring me out in public. I mean, “crazy” is in my name so of course you know I have got to be super fun to road trip with 🙂
And, you can only imagine how fun it is driving with me especially when I am the one giving directions- I don’t know my left and my rights- Go this way, no that way- just follow my finger! LOL!
We went to the Yankee Candle Outlet first (yes, there was another stop after that one!) and Shannon knows me very well (she was in my wedding guys) so she made me wait to go to the sale room. She held me in and made me walk the entire store with her to try to keep me under control as long as she could before she let me loose on the sale items. She knows how nuts I get over those 75% off signs!
I was able to get brief glimpses of the sale room and as soon as I tried to walk away, I felt a tug on my hoodie to reign me back in and Shannon was right there making sure she didn’t lose me.
I also have a compulsion of touching EVERYTHING. I had to smell all the bath salts, stick my hands in the rocks, ring all the jingle bells and of course I HAVE to get snowed on whenever we go. I make her stand there with me and WAIT until it snows 🙂
And when Shannon finally got sick of me, she let me loose in the sale room! And, made sure to apologize ahead of time to the employees for me.
And, not 5 minutes later, crash bang, BOOM. Yup, it was me. I knocked down an entire shelf of candle holders (thank goodness they were metal and not glass) I was trying to climb the display to get a candle holder that was out of my reach. Best part was Shannon wasn’t even phased by it! 🙂 You know that is a true friend!
(You see that shelf behind me, yup, that’s the one I tried to climb and knocked everything down)
We had filled our cart to the brim of sale items and of course when we got to checkout, I still tried to finagle some more savings since there was no coupons AND we had A LOT of stuff. I was able to get an additional 10% off just by being my goofy ole self (and asking super duper nicely! 🙂
I ended up spending $107.46 and saving $146.41 on everything and we filled the back of Shannon’s truck! (Shannon spent wayyyyy more than I did and saved way less LOL!)
We then grabbed some lunch (after 2 hours of shopping, we were starving!) and took a trip down the road to check out Kringle Candle. I had only been there 1 time and Shannon had never been before.
As soon as well pulled in, they had a perfect picture opportunity so I got out of the car and ran to stick my face in the hole.
There was an older couple who had arrived just a few seconds later and came up to ask Shannon if I was ok because I was running. They thought there was a bug chasing me HAHAHA! Nope, we told them I was just not acting my age and they just laughed it off until they ran into me again inside 🙂
And when they ran into us again, of course I was kissing a hedgehog. At this point, I think they realized I wasn’t quite right in the head and made the reamark that they “think they really like me” and said they would see us across the street at the other buildings.
Shannon and I walked around (me with a hedgehog in my arms) the rest of the store and she left me for 5 minutes to use the restroom while I checked out and boy did I make quite the impression on the cashier. I don’t think she liked me much at all. Normally, when I find an animal I come up with a name but this hedgehog name was alluding me. When I was checking out, I asked the cashier to help me name him and I told her that I had to buy him because he was all by himself and I felt bad for him. At this point, she thought I was certifiably crazy. Like refused to even engage in any of my stupidity over this hedgehog. And definitely refused to offer any suggestion on a name when I had asked her to help me name him. Well, basically refused to engage in any conversation with me hahahaha!!!!!
Thank goodness another employee came to the cashiers aide and actually helped me name him Henry <3 I also had picked up these awesome wooden candle holders that were 75% off too. I spent $30.76 and saved $86.85!
Across the street Shannon, Henry and I went. Then, we met that couple again in the country barn. Of course because they heard my loud mouth coming. Mainly because I had to touch everything and ended up with a splinter in my butt. Announced it to the whole store so my friend Shannon could get it out for me.
And, they just stood there and watched. Shannon told them she was sorry for me and said she forgot to wear her t shirt that says “I’m sorry for my friend” and I said that my t shirt should say “I’m that friend” lol! (We really need to get those made ASAP please. OK Shannon?!- K Thanks)
Surprisingly enough, I didn’t buy anything else. Henry filled the shopping void in my heart and he was enough for me. Now, it was just time to explain to my husband why I bought a $60 hedgehog (Don’t worry, he was 75% off)
Shannon was more than happy to take a picture of what I was bringing home and sending it to my husband on my behalf to give him fair warning about what was about to walk in his door 🙂
Henry sat in my lap the whole ride home so he didn’t get lonely again and I just petted his head (My pants were covered in his fur lol!)
And when my husband asked me why in the world I bought him and and I said because everyone bought his family and left him all alone. Duh.
He obviously just didn’t understand the immediate love I had for Henry.
Although he may not understand it, he does have to accept it because Henry is here to stay.
And, Henry helped me saved a over $200 🙂
And, now I have it all put away (of course AFTER explaining to my husband why I bought so much stuff) and re-decorated my shelves so I could fit all of my shiny, new candle holders. So, people, don’t forget! The Yankee Candle Semi Annual sale is still going on with prices up to 75% off AND if you are in the Massachusetts area, Kringle Candle is offering 75% off all their Christmas stuff. Oh, and did I mention that Kringle Candle has “Try Me’s?”. OK, so I’m not really sure what they are called but there are free samples of olive oil, dips, teas, honey, apple butters, jams and more! Snack TIME! And, don’t forget if you need a partner in crime,Henry and I are always down for a road trip <3
