For those of you that know Whole Foods Market as the commonly renamed “Whole Paycheck” then this news is for you!
Amazon acquired Whole Foods and the deal will be all done August 28th! And, do you know what that means? LOWER PRICES! That’s what it means 🙂
Amazon plans to immediately lower prices Monday on “a selection of best-selling staples”, including bananas, avocados, eggs, salmon, tilapia, kale, lettuce, ground beef, almond butter, apples, rotisserie chicken, butter and more. “We’re determined to make healthy and organic food affordable for everyone,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Consumer. “Everybody should be able to eat Whole Foods Market quality – we will lower prices without compromising Whole Foods Market’s long-held commitment to the highest standards.”
That is such good news! And, there is even more exciting news too! Amazon Prime will soon become the Rewards Program at Whole Foods stores offering Prime members special savings and in-store benefits.
You may also find that Whole Foods will become a kind of hub for Amazon where you will be able to pick up return items you have purchased from Amazon.
And, you will be able to buy store brand Whole Foods items on Amazon!
For a merger that was only announced just a few months ago, they certainly got the ball rolling pretty fast!
So, on Monday morning, if you plan to walk into a Whole Foods, expect to see lower prices immediately! Totally cool 🙂
