I really don’t know why I never opened my Stop & Shop flyer this week. I guess sometimes it just happens. Truth be told, it was buried on my desk and after sharing the gas points deals, I never looked at it again. I woke up this morning with a text from my friend Shannon letting me know she grabbed 6 packages of chicken at Stop & Shop. I had no idea what she was talking about hahahaha! I might be slacking just a little bit. It happens to the best of us. I went digging through the pile of papers on my desk and right there on the front page was the boneless, skinless, chicken breast for $1.39 when you buy 3 packages. Ugh. I really wasn’t planning on going shopping but I was down to my last package of meat so Shannon was my godsend for the day! Beside, who knew there was a $5 off $50 coupon in the flyer?? Yup. I really wasn’t paying attention. At all. I knew I had to go. Next week chicken would probably be $3.99 a pound and I would be kicking myself in the butt.
So, I dropped the kiddo off to school and headed to the grocery store. I have never been to the grocery store so early in the morning. There was no one there! It was so nice. I had my pick of checkout lanes AND there was a ton of meat on mark down. I had first dibs! I’m thinking I might have to drag my ass to the grocery store more often in the morning time. It definitely had it benefits that’s for sure! I ended up grabbing everything from the Clip & Save Stop & Shop coupons (well, it had a coupon. If it has a coupon, I have to buy it. duh.) I also grabbed a bunch of marked down meat and 6 packages of the chicken. I only spent $57 bucks! I come home and bagged it all up in to meals and freeze it so I can just take a bag out of the freezer for dinner every morning. I have a month’s worth of meals all set and packaged up in my freezer.
But, I seriously need to start paying better attention and NOT waiting until the last day of the sale. This time I got lucky (Thanks Shannon), next time, I will be a day late and I just hate that! 🙂
