This has to be one of the questions I hear most- whether at a coupon class, through email or on Facebook- What is the BEST day to go shopping?
Well, there really is no definitive answer and the day is going to be different for almost all of us! I can tell you right now the WORST day to shop is the 1st day of the sale. Most people flock to the stores and clear the shelves before you even have a chance to get out of your pajamas. Most sales start on a Sunday so those shelves won’t be restocked for at least a day or so. And, who in the world wants to be jammed into a grocery store with ALL those people?!
Just because you have coupons, doesn’t mean that people who don’t coupon don’t know a good deal when they see one. Most likely the items you are “couponing” for are already at a low enough price for everyone else to grab without a coupon and they will stock up at sale price as much as you will stock up with coupons. Don’t count those lil’ old ladies out of the game because they will beat you to a good deal every. single. time.
How to fix this? Simply head over to the customer service desk of your store or find a cashier and ask them when their truck comes. Find out that day and that will be the BEST day for you to shop! For example, my Walgreens gets their truck on Monday morning. So, by Monday afternoon, the truck is unloaded and shelves are restocked. THAT is my go-to shopping day for Walgreens. My Rite Aid gets their truck on Wednesday so either Wednesday afternoon or Thursdays are the best days for me to shop at Rite Aid. Target stores usually get a truck daily or every other day so truck day is the day you want to be in store. Keep in mind that EACH truck is different at Target. One day may be a grocery truck, another may be a clothing truck and another may be a health & beauty truck so make sure they give you specific information. That way you are pretty much guaranteed that the items you are going for will be in stock or back in stock when you head there to shop.
For ShopRite, I choose Tuesday as my shopping day even though it is also Senior Citizen Day. Their truck comes Monday night so usually by the time I get there, around lunchtime on Tuesday, all the employees have their U-boats out in the aisles restocking shelves. I drive a hell of a way to get to ShopRite so I don’t want to make a trip and have nothing in stock. In all my years of shopping, there have been very few times where I have actually had to grab a rain check because I shop based on the stores truck schedule.
Every store in every town will get their truck on a different day so the BEST day to shop is TRUCK DAY whatever that is based on your stores schedule. Find out that information, and you will rarely find an empty shelf and get everything you need on your list ♥
