Ok, so please do not hate me BUT you might after I share this recipe with you. It is addicting, fantastic, amazing, restaurant quality, quick and to die for! This past weekend, my husbands daughter (my step daughter) was spending the weekend with us and I try to make it a bit more homey when she is here. We had chocolate chip pancakes one morning and the next morning I just could not seem to find anything to please anyone. Every idea I had was shot down by someone and no one could agree. It got to the point where I was about to tell everyone they were eating cereal! (LOL) Then, I said french toast and that got everyone excited! I had to run to the store to grab bread and i decided to just plsy around with it a bit. We had bananas that were about to be no good, half a brick of cream cheese in the fridge so I decided to have a bit of fun. I had no idea if what I was creating was actually going to be any good but omg, it came out amazing. I literally just had a friend over for lunch and made this AGAIN. I told you, you are going to hate me for this one! It takes less than 15 minutes and its just amazing. I just do not know what else to say about it. Lets get cooking!
First thing is first, gotta get your egg mixture together for the french toast! Whisk together eggs, milk and cinnamon.
Then on to the filling! This is so good, I love to lick the beaters! In a bowl, mix (with a hand mixer or in your Kitchen-Aid) cream cheese, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar.
Beat it until it is nice and creamy 🙂
This is the kind of bread I use. Brioche is a sweeter bread and can be found in any bakery section of your local grocery store. I bought mine at Stop & Shop. Slice the bread in to larger pieces (almost like the size of texas toast)
Place the bread in to the egg mixture coating one side and flip it over and coat the other side with the egg mixture.
Make sure to butter a frying pan or a skillet and place the french toast on to it to cook. It takes only about 1-2 minutes on each side on medium high heat.
Once both sides are cooked, leave the bread on the skillet and spread the cream cheese mixture on one side
Top the cream cheese mixture with sliced bananas
And flip the other half of french toast on top of the banana and cream cheese mixture and let it cook for about 30 seconds more. Flip if you need to!
That’s it! you are done! Place the french toast on a plate, sprinkle with a bit of powdered sugar and sliced bananas. Then, pour syrup over it and dig it!
