HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) –
After gobbling up Thanksgiving dinner, many may be ready to head to the stores for Black Friday shopping.
Before braving the crowds, experts said there are a few phone apps that could help shoppers get the best bang for their bucks.
Black Friday will be bringing out droves of people scrambling through packed store aisles snatching up hot ticket items, forgetting that it’s the season of giving and making it the season of grabbing.
Couponing expert Missie Morris, dubbed ‘The Crazy Coupon Chick’ said the key to braving the crowds and stretching a dollar is simply keeping a smartphone handy.
“Everything is right at the tip of your fingertips,” Morris said.
Sifting through the newspaper and clipping coupons is no longer the best way to find those deals.
Phone applications like one called Shopular organize flyers and give users access to the best coupons.
“Shopular is amazing! Shopular is my new best friend, it’s a newer app. It’s new this year, it’s just starting to come onto the market,” Morris said.
The app uses the GPS on a phone to find where the user is shopping, showing them the most relevant deals in the stores nearest to them.
Another app to check out is Brad’s Black Friday, which showcases all of the advertisements by store, breaking down deals for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and holiday toy lists.
It also shows users hot deals on specific items and where they can be found.
An app called Red Laser will help those who are worried they might be able to find a better deal somewhere else.
“If you find a product, you can scan the barcode and it will tell you the price of it, it will tell you all the store that carry it. It will also tell you all the prices at the other story,” Morris said.
Not only can users check to see if they are getting the best deal, but some stores will price match.
Just show the cashier a phone and certain retailers will match the price.
“Not all stores will price match on Black Friday. So that’s something that you’ll have look for signs at your store to see if they’re going to be honoring their price matching,” Morris said.
There are many apps out there that can help shoppers save.
Shoppers looking to save on Cyber Monday can try the app PriceGrabber. It is a great app to compare prices across online retailers.
